Biography

Rene Hubert

René Hubert, Ph.D., is Director of Early Career Talent & Strategic Alliances at Amgen, where he builds pipelines to recruit and develop emerging scientists and forges collaborations with universities and external partners across Amgen R&D. Trained as a molecular biologist (Ph.D., University of Southern California; postdoctoral fellowship at Cedars-Sinai), Dr. Hubert spent much of his 25-year Southern California biotech career in large-molecule discovery and engineering. Before moving into talent and partnerships, he led Amgen’s Expression & Cell Engineering group within Protein Engineering, focusing on high-productivity mammalian systems, miniaturization, and automation to accelerate biologics production. Earlier roles at Agensys and Xencor spanned antibody target discovery, ADCs, hybridoma generation, and recombinant protein expression platforms. Today, he combines scientific leadership with workforce strategy—supporting programs like Amgen Scholars and advising academic partners—while serving as a KGI Bioscience Industrial Advisory Board member.
